Washoe County has a special gas tax that makes the price higher than the rest of the state. Gas is cheaper in Carson City and Minden than in Reno.

It is cheaper once you leave the Bay Area. Closer to $5 in the rest of the state. Still,when I leave for a trip, I drive slow and easy to save gas until I cross the state line, then make my first fill up. Same for coming home. I top off to the brim before crossing the line back into California.
