Good question. I didn't invent the term, nor did I introduce it to this forum. It might be something to add to our Glossary Of RV Terms, but few newcomers would know we have a Glossary :unsure:

How I hated knife switches, but that's all that would fit under the hood of our Explorer toad when I had an auxiliary brake system installed. I'll avoid discussing the merits of Perko, Guest and Sea battery isolators :)

I'll add my welcome. The Signature is a great coach and was, when new, Monaco's top-of-the-line. We have several friends (and prior forum members) who bought/owned that coach.

Understood Kirk but, for clarification, there are battery disconnects and battery disconnects. Some are a rotary switch, usually near/adjacent to a battery, in series with the positive battery terminal. Others are the kind I described in my linked 'Trombetta' thread, where a rocker switch, often...

IIRC the first place I heard that term was from a salesperson and, more specifically, it was a "diesel-specific thing".

I stand corrected. Didn't realize they were being used on gas coaches. Same with our DP, as I realized when our Trombetta relay went out, and we only lost 12V to part of the coach.

This is a gas coach. The "salesman switch" is normally found on DP coaches.

That's one the forum staff/team debated numerous times over the years, and decided other venues (such as iRV2) did that to extreme.

Good suggestion, let me take a look. Agreed. I consciously chose not to say "I've lost count of the suggestions ... only to find it fizzles out and the member doesn't stick around".

The way a new forum might get added (or its scope or title gets changed) is if someone starts a thread on a topic and it attracts a lot of continued discussion and encourages more threads.
