We thought it would be fun to spend a weekend in New York city and be able to stay in our RV instead of a hotel, and we found the Liberty Harbor RV park, which provided a safe place to stay in New Jersey, within view of the Statue of Liberty. The park is right on the ferry line and the Path train to New York, which provided convenient access. Here's a video of our time walking around the city:
and the photo is from the marina next to the RV park.

Just looked up Liberty Harbor. Rates are $120 night. When we go into NYC we usually stay at a hotel in Times Square. The last time we went (saw To Kill A Mockingbird with Jeff Daniels) we paid $160 a night plus got a free breakfast. We drive to Princeton Junction and take the train into Grand Central Station. Cost $7.50 each for the train and parking was super cheap.

Croton Point is a Westchester County campground on the Hudson River north of NYC. The train station is across the street for easy access into the city.

Not RV related, but we belong to a home exchange site and given we have a very cozy, private rental cabin a bit over 2 hours north of NYC we can find exchange partners in the City for short stays for free. Have stayed in some really nice apartments in great locations.

We live in Dover, DE so Philadelphia, DC and NYC are very accessible. We go to Philly quite often; the zoo, museums, dinner. DC is a great day trip with the Smithsonian museums. And NYC for the Broadway plays.

We used to go to a NYC all the time prior to 9/11. After that, the city just lost its appeal to us. We knew several people lost that day.

I’ve only been back four times since 9/11. Three times for work and once to visit the 9/11 memorial.

We were glad to see the 9/11 Memorial, which we had never visited.
