Hahaha - almost 40 years since high school shop and I still find myself saying "time for Primitive Pete" when there is no other solution available to a problem! Thanks for the throw-back!
While it may be stout, tripods are for "stabilizing" not "supporting". If you have to add blocks under the landing gear and can't hitch up to a truck, I'd support the frame just behind the landing gear with concrete blocks or wood, raise the gear, and then place your lifting blocks.
25 for us IIRC - 17 cars, 6 pickups, and 2 minivans (we are in the minority in that we have never owned an SUV). Chevy, GMC, Buick, Dodge, Plymouth, RAM, Subaru, Toyota, Hyundai, VW, and Mitsubishi.
This goes back about 15 years, I think. Stayed for a weekend at the Cooperstown KOA (Richfield Springs, NY). New owners originally from RI had just taken over. On Friday night you put in an order for lobster that comes in fresh from RI on Saturday for dinner.
I also test them within the first couple miles of a trip. I have learned not to test them in campgrounds with gravel roads. Dug a couple of holes before I figured that one out, LOL!
I inadvertently tested mine leaving a campground last year. Rounded a sharp corner and the truck stopped dead! The wheels rolled off the pavement a bit so I tried to just gas it thinking I was just stuck in the mud - nope, felt like I was tied to a tree, LOL. Then, I thought maybe I hit the...
I love having the backup camera and use it in conjunction with the mirrors but I wish there was a way to dim it. At night, when swinging my head from left mirror to right mirror, the screen feels like it blinds me temporarily (like turning on a light in the middle of the night) and I can't focus...
I saw that briefly on the news Tuesday morning. It was sort of freaky to see that huge shadow moving over the earth. Sci-Fi movie stuff right there, LOL.
Michelin also makes versions for lawn mowers - I know John Deere offers some of their zero turn mowers with them. For car/truck use here in NY, regardless of how well they shake/spin out the snow and ice in motion, if snow/ice does freeze in there overnight, it would be a nightmare!
Partly cloudy in several parts of central NY today but still got some good views! Glad I just stayed in my driveway for 99.7% totality based on the cloud-cover. It was strange how quiet it seemed to get. Not sure if it was nature getting quiet or just the lack of usual traffic on my road since a...
My daughter and SIL are heading about an hour north for totality and then coming back to Utica, NY to the USA vs. Canada women's hockey game tonight! Hoping traffic does not mess with their plans!
I'll be in a camp chair in my driveway. Many have suggested enjoying a Corona or Blue Moon but I happen to have some Modelo Negra on hand which seems appropriate as well.
