Creating vamps/intros for songs

I have numerous lead sheets in my portfolio, but most don't have a vamp/intro. In some cases, playing the last line of the first verse works, but not always. Any suggestions on how to create a vamp/intro to a song?

I have a habit of writing long intros. Like this one:

I'm still having vocal issues. Getting old sucks.

Play a couple measures of the key chord with a b9th+#13th. That way when you resolve to the actual key anyone will heave a sigh of relief. LOL
