Jack Disney, a member of our local retired guys club (aka SIR - Sons In Retirement), was a 3-time Olympian in 2 sports (bicycling and speed skating), and was inducted into the US Bicycling Hall of Fame.

After retirement, Jack was an avid golfer and won the local golf tournament 3 times. After golfing, he took up bowling, and was in the top tier of our bowlers at the age of 94.

Regrettably, Jack passed away last week, but was active to the end..

That's a track bike, no brakes and one gear. Speed skating and cycling are quad and hamstring centric activities and if you're good at one you likely will be at the other. Those olympic caliber athletes like Jack Disney were however a breed apart. RIP.
