Hello all,

New to the board. I am looking for some details on a popup trailer we are looking at buying. The information label on the trailer shows the following:

Manufacturer: Forest River, Inc
Manufacture date: 5/17/2001
Trade Name: Flagstaff
Model: FST231FL
Serial: FSD141235
GVWR: 2378 lbs / 1079 kg
Cargo carrying capacity: 1675 lbs / 760 kg
Tongue load range: 278 lbs / 126 kg

Based on this information, the unloaded trailer weight should be 2378 lbs - 1675 lbs = 703 lbs.

This seems very light, especially considering slightly newer models come in at over 1500 lbs.

The Forest River Inc webpage only has owner's manuals for 2015s and newer, but everything I've seen suggest a trailer of this size would come in well over 700 lbs.

Does anybody have any thoughts on this? Is 700 lbs reasonable for a trailer this size? Any other resources I could look into.

Thanks.

I feel quite sure the 1675 lb is mislabeled. That would be the UVW - Unladen Vehicle Weight. The Cargo Capacity would be the difference between that and the GVWR.

As a sanity check I looked at 2001 Flagstaffs in the NADA RV Guide. Didn't find a model 231FL, but none of the Flagstaffs listed had a weight under 1200 lbs and all the larger ones are north of 1600 lbs.
