Last night we watched the video on The Day The Music Died, most of it narrated by Don McLean, composer/author of the classic American Pie. Great story.

I couldn't help getting on my music site last night and this morning (outside quiet hours) and playing/singing this song in the key of G (easy for me to sing and play on guitar). Our uke club has an arrangement in C.

I have been to the field in Clear Lake Iowa where the plane carrying Buddy, Big Bopper and Ritchie Valens crashed. I also got to stand on the stage in Clear Lake where he gave his last performance. However I look like I am pregnant. I have lost 70 pounds since then.Tom 2004-32.jpgTom 2004-36.jpg

I was a junior in high school when that happened, and remember the next day distinctly. Most of the girls were crying and boys were mopeing around the next day.
There was no instant news then.
